The PROBLEM
More than half are gone!
REUTERS reports a recent study showing that over half of the large mammals have disappeared from African game parks since the 1970's. In the game parks? The safe havens for the Wildlife! Worse yet, since 2005 the loss has accelerated dramatically.
Similar tragedies are seen for birds of prey and the rest of African Wildlife. The problem in South Africa is huge and increasing in speed.

Wildlife Protection
Fund 25 certified Wildlife Protection projects such as: Rescue / rehabilitate / release, habitat rescue and creation, wildlife research, and anti poaching efforts
Wildlife Advocates
Inspire 400,000 students to gain compassion for their Wildlife and commit to speak up and be involved. This is accomplished with an interactive curriculum centered around a live Wildlife presentation.
Qualify 2,000 children to attend a week long Wildlife advocate camp. Also provide them with ongoing support to keep the experience alive for the initial 400,000 students as well as teachers and local leaders.

Remember the Chinese proverb, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Supporting both Wildlife protection projects and creating wildlife advocates are critical. Saving and teaching are needed to sustain Wildlife long term.

The "Give a Hoot Don't Pollute" campaign in the 1970's drastically reduced littering in the United States. Nikela's hope is to touch a critical mass of students that can refine general attitudes toward Wildlife.
On the Nikela website (Launching October 2010) you will be able to review and donate to the project of your choice as well as track your donation history and project progress on a personal account. Before the website is live, donations will be posted to the General Protect Fund and allocated to the most qualified projects.
Your donations are safe and gain the highest impact. Each project is qualified through a 5 Star rating process of meeting Nikela's expectations. Project news and progress will be reported to you on-line and detailed monthly progress reports submitted to Nikela. Projects will also be visited at least annually by Nikela representatives.
